Hi, I'm Adam - founder of First Impression Headshots. I have been taking pictures since I saved up to buy a camera at 13 years old. And, I've practically had a camera in my hand ever since. I've been lucky enough to travel all over the world with my camera in my hand. I would travel by myself on a lot of trips and would frequently use my camera as an ice-breaker with strangers (who may or may not have spoken English). If I didn't speak to strangers on these trips, I wouldn't have spoken much at all.
I have used that ability to connect with people in my work taking headshots and portraits. While it's important to master all of the technical aspects of photography such as lighting and camera operations. But posing people and coaching them through various expressions is what's necessary to make a portrait have magic.
I've been building businesses and navigating challenges since the 1990s—long enough to know that success rarely comes in a straight line. From launching startups to reinventing myself creatively, I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and showing up with intention are everything.
Today, I bring that same mindset to my work as a professional headshot photographer based in San Diego. I help people look like the best version of themselves—not by changing who they are, but by revealing it with clarity and confidence.
About half of my clients come to the studio and, for the other half, I go to their location. Either way, the connection is the same. I believe every first impression is a new opportunity. And the right image can open the right doors.
